Although Dphoto has a very active Canon forum, this site is about the image first. Gear at the higher levels is more a matter of personal preference. Nikon has some very strong points. For example ergonomically, the D2H is fantastic. What are the things that enticed you to choose Nikon?

Your friend will only have problem if he tries to go directly from India to any Middle East, African, Eastern European , East Asian or Australia/NZ.
They will not allow your friend to board the plane from India without clearence from Labor Ministry in India.
It is mainly done so ppl arent exploited. Like taking young girls to Middle East where they may be abused.

The company will have to sponsor the H1 in full. Not enough to just give you an employment verification letter.
Also as per the rules, you cannot pay for the H1. Only the company can pay for it.
Thanks for your reply.I thought it's a possiblity that we can transfer with an employment letter.Looks like its not.

The H-2B visa program is vital to Americas small businesses and thus to Americas economic recovery. The H-2B program is capped at 66,000 visas per year. This is the same arbitrary number set by Congress in 1990. The visa allotment is split equally between the winter and summer seasons. Small business owners rely on the H-2B program because it is the only way they can legally hire workers for temporary and seasonal positions when they cannot find Americans to hire.
Small and seasonal businesses hire American workers and they do hire every qualified
American who applies for a seasonal or temporary short-term position. Nevertheless, even in this economy, positions remain unfilled, leaving these businesses desperately in need of workers. This is not surprising since these jobs typically involve low-skilled and semi-skilled labor, involve work at remote locations, and are only short-term in duration.
Unlike the hiring of American workers, small business owners must go through a tough application process to hire foreign workers through the H-2B program. Employers must prove to the U.S. Department of Labor that there are no available U.S. workers to fill vacant short-term positions. H-2B workers go home at the end of the season. They cannot, and do not, stay in the U.S. permanently through this program.
Without access to more temporary H-2B workers, many small businesses will be extremely short-staffed this year and could be forced to close. For small businesses, relief must come now so that Americas employers can get the seasonal temporary workers they need to help in Americas economic recovery.
RELIEF NEEDED:
An H-2B visa returning worker extension will go a long way in helping small and
seasonal businesses survive in the short term. The extension would provide
emergency relief by exempting from the cap H-2B returning workers who already
have successfully participated in the program in one of the previous 3 years.
Without Congressional relief soon, many U.S. businesses will be forced to limit their
services or close their doors permanently rather than be a part of the economic
recovery.
CURRENT LEGISLATION:
H-2B relief has been introduced in the House by Rep. Stupak (D-MI), and in the
Senate by Sen. Mikulski (D-MD), as the Save Our Small and Seasonal Businesses
Act of 2009 (H.R. 1136/S. 388).

So please continue working with IV agenda and contribute in anyways possible.
New members, please contribute considering the help you're getting from this IV forum. Remember IV needs money to support all of us. We're using so much IV resource and its our duty that we must suport IV.
Thanks IV.

Hi Elaine, I have a similar issue. I work for a consulting company, the company headquarter is town A (the same with LCA location) and I have been working for client in town B since several years ago. I have asked my employer whether I need to get an H1B amendment, my employer said since town A and B belong to the same metropolitan statistics area and are within commutable distance (9 miles), there's no need to do amendment. Should I be worried with the new memo coming out?
appreciate your answer.

Hello Everyone,
Here is my situation:
1) My 6 years H1B with Company-A ends Sept 2011
2) I-140 approved and my priority date is Aug 2006.
3) Company-B(end client) offered a full-time position starting Jan 2010.
What are my options? My questions are:
1) Will I be eligible to extend my H1B with Company-B for another 3 years? Do I need a I-140 with Company-B to extend?
2) Is it possible to use the labor and I-140, that I filed when I was with Company-A, to file for I-485? If I can, can I file the I-485 independent of Company-A? Do I need any kind of approval or paper work from Company-A?
3) When Company-B sponsors my GC is it possible to port the priority date? Do I need to restart the whole GC process again with Company-B?
I am really confused. Please help.

In my job search (banking and finance jobs) there is this one question i come across on each and every job application-
"Do you now or will you in the future require sponsorship to legally work in the united states?"
and options to tick on the form are 'yes' or 'no' with no space for explanation.
So i mark 'yes' and i guess thats where my job applications get stuck.
Should I answer yes or no, since i am on L2 (visa valid for next 2 years) and currently have 2 years Employment Authorisation (EAD) where i can work for any employer in the United States ?
I understand that companies ask this question because some of them are not allowed/ do not have a policy to sponsor visas.
I want to know whether i am legally required to say 'yes' because i am on L2 ( since after 2 years, my visa renewal depends on whether or not my spouse's L1 is renewed)
OR
Do I still have a choice to say 'no' since my visa renewal gets done if my husband's gets done or i manage it on my own through a consultant... and the company i will join in both cases does not have to sponsor or pay for my visa either now or in the future.
I do not want to misrepresent any information and get thrown out of the organisation after i join, nor do I want to lose out on opportunities because of answering this question wrongly.
Let me know please, it'll help a lot.

I have a approved H1b from company A. Company A also shared a copy of approval. I was never counted under H1b cap before this approval. If I now decide not to join company A and assuming company A will not cancel H1b, can I use this H1b to join another company B later using H1b transfer???? I am presently on cap except H1b and need a cap subject H1b in order to move to any private firm. So approval from company A matters a lot to me.
Has anyone done this????
Thanks in advance...
IMO, you cannot do this as you are moving from a cap exempt H1 to a non-exempt H1. So, in this case it will be regarded as a fresh H1 application and not a transfer. If you want to join Company B, then they have to file a new H1 application which will count towards the cap. Hope this helps!

Neither can I. By the way, it is notable that the Princeton event came bang in the middle of our big push in Washington during the fag end of the LD session. Wonder if any of the core members could make it to the event given how critical that particular week end was to us.
